Behind the Gorilla

An entrepreneur by nature Nick Triantafillou is the owner and founder of King Kong Restaurants. Nick was brought up in a tiny mountain village on one of the biggest islands in Greece. One of six children, Nick started working since he learned to walk and talk. His first jobs including selling fire wood, gathering sap and changing roof tiles. In his early twenties Nick wanted something more for his poor family and decided to make it to the land of opportunity. He left his homeland by joining a commercial shipping company as a sailor. On board, he became the captain's waiter and sailed from Greece to the UK, across the Atlantic to the Dominican Republic and then "jumped ship" at the port of Galveston, Texas.

Speaking no English and arriving with nothing but a phone number of his uncle who lived in Omaha, Nebraska. His uncle managed to get Nick some local help in Texas and put him on a flight to Omaha where Nick started his restaurant experience.

After working for Bronco Burger and his uncle's gyro shop, Nick opened his very first restaurant, Nick's Sirloin House in Council Bluffs, IA. At this point Nick started his own family and fueled more fire to his already ablaze ambition to take care of those he loves. From the steakhouse, to a diner in Bridgeport, NE back to fine dining at Diana's and Nick's Dining in Bellevue, Nick's experience range from fine dining to the most casual of atmospheres. After living in every major city in Nebraska from Bridgeport to Kearney and back to Omaha where he opened yet again a Nick's Gyros Shop on 44th and Dodge. The well known character and curious name brought more and more customers into the store. Soon everyone knew about the great food Nick was serving and coming to talk to Nick as that was almost as entertaining as the food!

Now Nick is enjoying continued success with 4 current units and many more in the works. Dedicated to helping his community and his family, Nick hopes to one day reach all across the United States.
